Community Choice Demonstration

Building on research that shows growing up in neighborhoods with lower levels of poverty improves children’s academic achievement and reduces intergenerational poverty, HUD has launched the Community Choice Demonstration to provide over 10,000 families with children better access to low-poverty neighborhoods with high-performing schools and other strong community resources. Thirteen public housing authorities in nine sites are participating in a randomized control trial to evaluate the extent to which the program increases the number of voucher families with children living in opportunity areas. MEF Associates is a subcontractor to Abt Associates and will be responsible for site development, implementation of random assignment procedures, and implementation research in three sites. MEF will also examine the costs associated with comprehensive mobility-related services.
