Our approach to technical assistance (TA) helps organizations turn ideas into action—whether that means refining operations, developing effective policies, or embedding evaluation and continuous learning into everyday practice.
Our Approach
Our staff bring deep experience in policy analysis, implementation planning and support, organizational improvement, and program evaluation. We work alongside program leaders, staff, and participants to co-create practical tools and strategies that fit each organization’s context and goals.
MEF’s hands-on approach includes site-based coaching, human-centered design, virtual and in-person convenings, peer learning groups, and collaborative workshops—all designed to build capacity, spark innovation, and help organizations implement policy and programmatic changes that will better serve individuals and families. 
- Flexible & Tailored. Our approach is responsive to the unique needs, timelines, and capacities of the organizations we support. We adapt our methods and deliverables as learning emerges—whether that means shifting focus midstream, accelerating timelines, or providing deeper focus where it’s most needed.
- Data-driven. Our TA is grounded in evidence and informed by data. Many of our team members are both researchers and TA providers, skilled at translating data into actionable insights. We draw from implementation science, human-centered design, and adult learning principles to delivery quality, evidence-informed technical assistance.
- Collaborative. We offer a hands-on approach that is rooted in collaboration between our team and the organizations we support. We facilitate conversations that draw out the knowledge and expertise of your organization, including identifying facilitators and barriers to high quality implementation. We use this information to help organizations select and build effective change strategies that can be implemented well and sustained over time.
- Human-centered. People are at the heart of every program—and our approach to TA. We use human-centered design principles to guide our coaching and TA engagements, ensuring that solutions reflect the real needs, experiences, and strengths of the people involved.
