Evaluation of the American Apprenticeship Initiative

In an effort to expand registered apprenticeship in the United States, the Department of Labor launched the American Apprenticeship Initiative, providing $175 million in five-year grants to 45 grantees across the country. To understand the operation and effects of these grants, the Employment and Training Administration commissioned an evaluation to build evidence about the effectiveness of apprenticeship for participants and employers and lessons for developing and operating these grant programs. MEF is a subcontractor to Abt Associates. MEF led the knowledge development task, conducted implementation research, and participated in the employer survey.
