Janetta Deppa is a Senior Research Associate at MEF Associates. Her interests include advancing social protection and upward mobility for all individuals and families, especially those who have been traditionally underserved and who are experiencing poverty. She specializes conducting qualitative research that incorporates the voices of individual users directly into program design and findings. In addition, she brings experience with utilizing mixed methods approaches, conducting and evaluating program implementation, and providing technical assistance to social service agencies. 

Before coming to MEF, she was a manager at ICF where she led projects and tasks on behalf of the Administration for Children and Families, the Department of Labor, and various state social service agencies. Prior to serving as a consultant, Janetta worked at a variety of organizations in South Africa, Turkey, and the UK focused on content related to cash transfers, refugee and migrant services, and the informal economy. 

Janetta holds a Master of Science in Urbanization and Development from the London School of Economics and a B.A. in International Relations from American University. Outside of work Janetta enjoys painting, traveling, trail running, gardening, and doting on her two mischievous cats.
