Bryan Thomas is a Research Assistant at the MEF Alexandria office. His primary research interests include urban policy, community development, immigration, child welfare, and the connections between social science trends and social policy. At MEF, Bryan works within the Children and Families policy domain on projects related to residential mobility, family strengthening, and employment.

Before joining MEF, Bryan was an intern at MDRC, where he worked on projects in the Youth Development, Criminal Justice, and Employment and the Economic Mobility, Housing, and Communities policy areas. Previously, he worked in immigration law and wrote asylum applications for Afghan refugees. Bryan also worked with the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City on its Inner City 100 award that ranks and spotlights the nation’s fastest-growing businesses in under-resourced communities.

Bryan graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in Biology. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the DC metro area, seeing live music, playing slide guitar, and reading.
